Despotate of Hellas Sea

 


Mars was believed as the new home for mankind. Another opportunity, after the damages and abuses inflicted to mother Earth.

When Nemesis arrived, Mars colonization was a reality.

Some domed settlements  were present on the equator, the atmosphere was thin, but breathable and, in the old seas, water was appearing.

Some populations from earth have been settled on the red sands of Mars.

When Nemesis disintegrated in Earth orbit, Far Future took the project of Mars colonization and developed its personal idea.

It is said Hellas Despotate was the first draft of what shall be Galileo.

Culture and Society: The culture of Hellas is an artificial one. Although many of its inhabitants come from southern Europe and Russia, Far Future Foundation created a Byzantine revival. It's unclear if this neo-byzantine culture was created on purpose, or if it was only the result of orthodox population mixing. The result, however, is a remake and revival of Constantinople’s Empire  .

The Despotate holds at least for cultures (Slavic, Greek, Syrian and Coptic), but they were overshadowed by this byzantine claim.

Hellas is an aristocratic society, well developed. Obviously there was no landed aristocracy, but instead than Galileo, here nobility comes from blood and lords and ladies can, sometimes, trace their lineage well before the founding of the Despotate.

Traditionally, Hellas is allied with Galileo, and many times there were marriages between their houses. 

The Despotate is one of the four great powers of Mars. 

While it is the less vast of them, it is probably the one with a clearer vision of its destiny as a martian power.           


Religion: The main faith in the state is the Martian Orthodoxy. Nothing more than Orthodoxy of the old terran days, but without links to old authorities, left on Earth.
All Christians belong to this faith, but other religions exist alongside to the official religion of the Despotate.
In particular, Martianism(a sort of Judaism) and Tasawwuf Islam.

Crown Princess Maia

Princess Maia: Maia is the second born of Emperor Isaac, she is 30 years old. She was conceived with assistite procreation to ensure a second heir for the Empire. She is the Duchesse of Io, the most active moon around Jupiter and the source of the energy of the Empire extracted by geothermal activity of Io. She is very active and social woman, having different lovers (some male and some female as well) and she is a little scandalous for the conformist Galilean society. However she is a woman of the people and she is very loved by her subjects on Io, because she not only makes a lot of appearances on working places, but she leads a lot of foundations for the well beings of her people. She commands the Imperial Guard and his own regiment of Io's Hussars both with the grade of Colonel.

Pallas Marines

  The soldiers of Pallas fought much more in the space than on surfaces and their marines are known to have aided the lowenwolf mercenaries in many operations. Moreover, if Pallas in not in open war, they travel on ships and cargoes to ensure security and defense against pirates and rogue clans. The armor, called star-metal suit, is a titanium-ceramic armor is insulated by vacuum of space and integrated with many aids for the soldier, as guided aim, thermoscanner and radar. The marines are not a separate corp from the army, but soldiers of Royal State Army equipped with star-metal suits. The last major battle is been at Shteins during the Valhalla War and their last engagement is been at Eros against the Void Octopus pirates fleet
