Great-Dukedom of France
France is the richest and most important of the Empire's dominions and also the only one that is not directly governed by the Emperor.
Power resides in the hands of a Grand Duke, or rather a Grand Duchess Lady Elenor Algernon, who obtained the title for military merits. A former general of the troops on the European front, she was the coordinator of the landing in Sicily and Sardinia that handed over the Mediterranean to Galileo's imperial forces.
The provisional capital of France is located in Lyon and, although promises to bring it back to Paris are often made, for now there are no signs that it will move in that direction. This often sparks demonstrations and protests in both Paris and Versailles. Generally peaceful, they are rarely repressed with force, a tactic that Lady Algernon has proven to be successful.
Galileo considers the Port of Marseille as one of the most strategic ports in his possession and Toulon as the second most important military port after Gibraltar itself. Istres Air Base is the largest air station in Europe (surpassing Gibraltar).
The Dominion flag features the colors of France, but arranged to emphasize the royal blue. In the center of the blue segment are the crossed lightning bolts of Galileo, red on a white background to match the other national colors of the flag.
