Meta-Humanity Mercury

Humanity's evolution is not set in stone.

Although humanity left its home on Earth only three hundred years ago, some humans began to show obvious signs of genetic mutation after only a few generations.

The first confirmed cases date back to around the first century of the Nemesis Era, on Mars. Some children in areas of the planet that were not very terraformmeed showed a notable increase in their breathing capacity and resistance to cold.

Then there were the first fire children.

In some colonial areas of Mercury, in areas under corporate control and not under that of the Coalition, where living conditions were harsher, the first metahumans appeared. They called them the fire children, because they tolerated heat more efficiently than other children and also began to show signs of external mutation, such as increased rods in their eyes to increase twilight vision and white hair to increase heat dissipation.

Djinns, or pejoratively Salamanders as they are sometimes called, have also appeared on Io with much the same abilities as their Mercurial counterparts. While on Mercury, however, at least the Hermes Coalition protects them with laws that protect their safety and health, on Io (and in general on Galileo) there are no such laws and they are often exploited to work in difficult and high-risk environmental situations.
