Pallas Principality

 

Pallas is made mostly of olivine and compounds of aluminum. Given its composition, it’s not difficult to understand that it was the first mined asteroid and one of the first space settlements.

As Ceres, after the collapse of Earth civilization and mass migration in space, transforms itself into a monarchy, a principality, but instead of a coup as on Ceres or Vesta, but with a referendum.

The first dynasty, the Lone, extinguished after a century of rule. The next ones, Hata Family, ruled until the Belt War when a cadet branch tried to usurp the throne with Galilean help.  Stig Hata ruled for another 15 years after the war, but died without heirs and the throne passed to the Nabanan, which they are ruling until now. 

Capital: Kaimana City, meaning Power of the Ocean (of Stars)

Population: 120 Millions (Including 20 M. between mining facilities and loyal tribes)

Ruler: Albert II Nababan 

Currency:  Palladium Crone

Culture: It’s unclear, exactly, from where the population comes. Some hints suggest it hailed from Oceania, Indonesia and North Europe, Philippine and Pacific Islands. A sizable minority comes from Indocina and southwest Asia (Thailand, Vietnam and Cambodia) living in the space island of Naraja, one of the main tourist attraction of Pallas and home of the biggest Hindu temple out of India or Saryu on Venus. 

Palladian society, anyhow, developed independently from its roots in an aristocratic, but tolerant and free, society, where different lifestyles mixed together quite harmoniously.

Pallas is an aristocratic society, not unlike Ceres, and blood nobility is acknowledged by law, but at the sametime, the commons are not deprived of rights and freedoms and the loyal tribes and clans possess many rights and liberties.

Militarization is a necessity, and soldiers and uniforms are a common sight in the state. Both the green ones of the army, than the red ones of the princely guards.

Space nomads, from tribes or clans, are loyal citizens of the state and are often dwelling in the porincipality’s cylinders or in the main asteroid. 

While Pallas doesn't escape from general cultural amalgamation of the Solar System, thanks to clans, it preserves a distinct feeling. For exemple, along with "Solarian", the common language of the Solar system, Pallas teach Palladian language, a strange, but recognizable form of hawaiian (as the same way that MUR teachs English or Galileo teachs French)

Religion:  Pallas faiths are taken lightly as usual. A local version of Christianty, more interested in veneration of Our Lady and the Saints, is commonly followed. Islam come second, and was a very light version of Sunnism. Others faith are slightly underrepresented on Pallas.
