The flag avoids the alchemical symbol of Mercury, emphasising that the corporate enclaves are not part of the Coalition in all respects, but uses the planet and the star, symbolising Mercury's proximity to the Sun.

The gold and dark blue colours refer to the solar spectrum and the blue of the night sky.
